About Us

The Infant Toddler Developmental Center is the dream of Charlene Jenkins, the owner and director.  Following a rewarding 6-year career at YWCA Early Head Start Program in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she resigned in 2007 as Program Director and completed her master’s degree at Louisiana State University in 2010 in Child and Family Studies.

Charlene’s career in the early childhood field began in 1996.  She was living in Sigonella, Italy and hired as a classroom teacher, in this atmosphere, she discovered her true calling.  Her passion for working with young child has led her on a fascinating journey. Over the last 10-years, Charlene has worked as a state certified trainer for Excellence for Children and Child Care Key; an Adjunct Instructor at Louisiana Technical College child development courses; and  as a graduate assistant in LSU preschool lab. She is trained in the Program for Infant Toddlers Caregivers (PITC) in California and  the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Charlene experiences became her motivation for creating a haven where young children can grow and develop in a nurturing and safe environment.  Along with the support of her husband of 20-years and three children, she will open the Infant Toddler Developmental Center, in October 2011.
